There are many kinds of coffee packaging and various materials. According to the form of coffee supply, coffee packaging can be basically divided into three categories: raw beans export packaging, roasted coffee beans (powder) packaging, and instant coffee packaging.
The raw beans are generally packed in gunny bags. Here we mainly introduce the packaging of roasted coffee and instant coffee:
Baked coffee beans (powder) are generally packaged in bags and cans.
Bagging can be divided into non airtight packaging, vacuum packaging, one-way valve packaging and pressurized packaging.
Non airtight packaging is a temporary packaging, which is only used for short-term storage;
For vacuum packaging, roasted coffee beans need to be stored for a period of time before packaging to prevent carbon dioxide damage to the packaging. Generally, such packaging can be stored for about 10 weeks;
The one-way valve packaging is to add a one-way valve on the packaging bag to allow the carbon dioxide generated to be removed, but it will block the entry of external gases, ensuring that the coffee beans will not be oxidized but can not prevent the loss of aroma. These packages can be stored for up to 6 months. Some coffees are also packaged with vent holes, that is, only vent holes are punched on the packaging bags without one-way valves, so once the carbon dioxide generated by the coffee beans is emptied, the external air will enter the bags, causing oxidation, so the storage time will be greatly reduced;
Pressurized packaging means that coffee beans will be vacuum packaged soon after baking and then filled with inert gas for sealing. This kind of packaging can ensure that coffee beans will not be oxidized and that aroma will not be lost. It has enough strength to ensure that the packaging will not be damaged by air pressure, and can be stored for up to two years.
The cans are generally metal and glass, both of which are equipped with plastic covers for convenient sealing.
The packaging of instant coffee is relatively simple. Generally, it is packed in small sealed bags, mainly in long strips. In addition, there is an external packaging box. Of course, some canned instant coffee is also used in the market.
Due to the requirement of oxidation resistance, coffee packaging bags are generally made of light proof plastic composite materials, such as OPP/VMPET/PE, PET/AL/PE, or environment-friendly kraft paper composite materials.
